FLL 2014 - World Class Challenge

What is the future of learning? FIRST® LEGO® League teams will find the answers.  In the 2014 FLL WORLD CLASSâ„  Challenge, over 230,000 children ages 9 to 16* from over 70 countries will redesign how we gather knowledge and skills in the 21st century. Teams will teach adults about the ways that kids need and want to learn.  Get ready for a whole new class – FLL WORLD CLASSSM!

FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers.  During FLL WORLD CLASSSM, teams will build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.  They will also choose and solve a real-world question in the Project.  Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values.

2014-2015 FLL Schedule

May 5 Early Registration Opens at NOON Pakistan Time. 
June 7 Early Registration Closes. Teams registered with all payments made by this date will get the Filed Setup Kit and Robotics Kit in Batch 1.
June 7 Regular Registration continues.
August 18 Batch 1 Shipment. EV3 Robots & Field Setup Kits begin to ship (to teams who made the payment by early registration date)
August 27 FLL Challenge Release
Mid September* Team Registration Closes / Last Chance to Order Products
September  15, 2014 EV3 Robots & Field Setup Kits begin to ship (6-8 weeks from date of payment received to STARfALL)
November 2014 – January 2015 Regional Tournaments in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Gujranwala.
Pilot season in Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Mianwali.
February 2015 STAR FLL National Championship
April 2015 World Festival
May-June 2015  Other International Invitational Championships (Includes Canadian and European championships)

STAR FLL Pakistan National Championship 2014

Sixteen (16) teams each with up to 10 children of 9-16 years of age from the cities of Islamabad, Karachi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore participated in STAR FLL National Robotics Championship on Saturday, March 1st 2014, held at GIFT University, Gujranwala. These teams have qualified to national championship after competing in the regional events held in their respective cities earlier this year.

STAR FLL PAKISTAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2013

Thirteens (13) teams each with up to 10 children of 9-16 years of age from the cities of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore participated in STAR FLL National Robotics Championship on Saturday, March 2nd 2013, held at LUMS, Lahore. These teams have qualified to national championship after competing in the regional events held in their respective cities earlier this year.

FIRST LEGO League - Lahore Region - Feb 16th, 2013

STARfALL FLL Regional Championship Lahore for Senior Solutions season was held at LUMS School of Science & Engineering (SSE) campus on Feb 16th, 2013. The event was graced by the presence of the Founding Members of STARfALL Foundation, Patron IEEE LUMS, Google Pakistan, Judges from the Industry and Academia, Teachers, Students and dedicated volunteers from LUMS who worked persistently throughout to make it a roaring success. Kudos to everyone for making it a successful event!

FIRST LEGO League - Islamabad Region - Feb 9th, 2013

  70 children of ages 9 to 16 years from different schools of Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in first ever STARfALL's FIRST LEGO League event held in Islamabad on February 9th, 2013. The Islamabad regional championship was organized at NUST by SEECS with the help of faculty and students volunteers. Students and teams represented The Roots School, EMS High School, Head Start School and Sheikh Zayed International School. Top four teams from the event qualified to participate in STARfALL's FIRST LEGO League Pakistan national championship to be held in Lahore on March 2nd 2013.

FIRST LEGO League - Karachi Region - Jan 5th, 2013

 STARfALL FLL Championship Karachi Region for Senior Solutions season was held at Karachi Institute of Technology & Entrepreneurship (KITE) campus on Jan 5th, 2013. The event was graced by the presence of the Founder, STARfALL Foundation, HOD NUST SEECS, Judges from the Industry and Academia, Parents, Students from Haque Academy, Generation's, Karachi Grammar, Bay View Academy, British Overseas, River Oaks Academ and Education Bay and the Volunteers who worked persistently throughout to make it a roaring success. The event was covered by media and marked the beginning of FIRST Lego League Championships in the region.

In the 2012 FLL Challenge, over 200,000 children ages 9 to16* from more than 60 countries will explore the topic of aging and how it may affect a person’s ability to maintain his or her lifestyle. Teams will research obstacles and then suggest ways to improve the quality of life for the seniors affected. Teams will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® robot to solve a set of missions on an obstacle course. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values.

 

FLL Pakistan - Championship Event at LUMS on June 2nd, 2012

STARfAll (Science and Technology Awareness and Recognition for All) in collaboration with LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences) hosted the first National Robotics Championship event for FLL (FIRST LEGO® League) in Lahore on June 2, 2012. FLL is a global program that focuses on developing science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills in kids aged 9-16. The event was very well received by the community. Teams from different schools participated in the event and children demonstrated their problem solving skills using LEGO NXT Robotic Kits. Click here to see the winners and details of this event. 

FLL awareness booth at SOFTEC, FAST-NU, Lahore

SOFTEC STARfAll had its first reach-out program at FAST-NU with a FIRST LEGO League booth at SOFTEC 2012. The booth was setup with the mission mat, pre-built robots and a laptop which visiting school children could use to program and complete simple missions. This attracted a lot of attention resulting sign-up of several new adults to volunteer for the program and children to participate in the tournament.

Robotics Lab at Children Library Complex Lahore

STARfAll is pleased to inform a Robotics Lab has been setup at Children Library Complex for the teams registered in the FIRST LEGO League tournament to come and prepare for the competition free of cost. We are thankful to CLC management for offering this space enabling school teams to be able to learn, practice and prepare for the tournament. 
 

STARfAll Robotics Lab

 With the support of the PITB (Punjab IT Board), STARfAll is in process of setting up a Robotics Lab where a few registered and qualified teams will be provided access to the Robotics Kits, FLL Challenge Kit, Computer and Internet.  Teams will be able to learn, research, practice and prepare for the FLL tournament using these Labs. More information about location and availability schedule will be provided soon. 

Our Goal

The mission of STAR is to inspire young people in Pakistan to be science and technology leaders by providing them a fun filled and sports like platform to inculcate a sense of future technologies among them; foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Team Sponsorships

FLL Pakistan 2013 Team Sponsorships Available

  • Team sponsorships are available in a limited number for teams needing financial assistance and have a desire to learn and compete for the FLL Robotics Challenge.
  • Includes: Registration Fee, Team Robot kit, Regional Tournament fee, Training Workshops
  • Min 5 and Max 10 students per team. Age: 9 to 16 years
  • Approval Criteria applicable
  • An adult coach (usually a teacher from school) must register the team on starfll.org website and send an email to teamsContact@starfll.org with below information:
  1. School/Organization Name
  2. Principal or Organization Head's Name and contact information (email and phone number)
  3. Coach Name and contact information (email and phone number)
  4. Team members information (names and ages)
  5. Brief Description about why do you think you should qualify for financial assistance. Also include teams accomplishments and interest in Maths, Science and other subjects.
  6. Include a brief description of your understanding of FLL and this year's challenge "Senior Solutions"
